How Photobiomodulation Works

Photobiomodulation (PBM) uses specific wavelengths of light to influence biological processes within the skin. Red and near-infrared light are absorbed by cellular photoacceptors, including components of the mitochondrial respiratory chain.

This may increase adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production, modulate reactive oxygen species, and activate cellular signaling pathways involved in tissue repair, inflammation regulation, and collagen synthesis. Blue light can also target acne-associated bacteria through their light-sensitive porphyrins.

In aesthetic medicine, these mechanisms may support skin rejuvenation, improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and help manage inflammatory skin concerns. PBM may also influence fibroblast activity, microcirculation, and tissue remodeling, potentially supporting recovery following laser resurfacing, microneedling, and other cosmetic procedures.

Potential Applications of ForeSight for Dermatologists & Plastic Surgeons

Hair Restoration

For patients experiencing androgenetic alopecia or gradual hair thinning, ForeSight offers a non-invasive addition to hair restoration protocols. Targeted red and near-infrared light may stimulate follicular activity, support cellular energy production, and improve scalp circulation. You can incorporate photobiomodulation alongside established hair loss treatments to help encourage healthier hair growth cycles and potentially improve hair density over time.

Skin Rejuvenation

Your patients may want smoother, firmer, more youthful-looking skin without invasive procedures or extended downtime. ForeSight uses targeted wavelengths to support fibroblast activity and collagen production, potentially improving elasticity, tone, and texture. You can offer photobiomodulation as a standalone rejuvenation treatment or combine it with other aesthetic services to address fine lines, wrinkles, and early signs of aging.

Acne Management

Acne treatment often requires addressing both bacterial activity and inflammation. ForeSight provides access to blue and red light wavelengths that target these concerns through distinct mechanisms. Blue light may reduce acne-associated bacteria, while red light helps regulate inflammatory responses and support skin recovery. This combination can complement your existing acne protocols, particularly for patients with inflammatory breakouts.

Scar Reduction

Whether you’re treating acne scars, surgical scars, or hypertrophic scarring, ForeSight can complement your existing scar management strategies. Photobiomodulation may influence fibroblast activity, collagen remodeling, and inflammatory pathways involved in tissue repair. By incorporating targeted light therapy into your treatment plans, you can provide additional support for scar maturation and potentially improve skin texture and appearance over time.

Post-Procedure Recovery

Recovery is an important part of your patients’ experience following laser skin resurfacing, microneedling, and surgical procedures. ForeSight offers a non-invasive way to support tissue repair and rejuvenation and manage inflammation. Targeted light may help reduce redness, swelling, and discomfort while supporting cellular recovery, allowing you to complement standard aftercare protocols and potentially improve the overall healing experience.
